Washington Students and Families Fight for Their Right to School Choice
Washington State is going through some educational growing pains: the state’s Supreme Court recently decided that it’s going to fine the state $100,000 a day, teachers in Seattle are striking (and delaying the start of the school year), and the brand new charter school law was recently ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court—with no direction for what will happen to the students attending them.
But while policymakers take their time making decisions, parents and students are speaking up for what they want: the ability to choose the school that best suits them.
The message from families is clear: Governor Inslee needs to step up for students and save their schools.
