Chief Innovation Officer, Tulsa Public Schools

Tulsa, Oklahoma

Andrea Castañeda joined Tulsa Public Schools as the Chief Innovation Officer in July 2017.  In her current role, she supports the design and launch of new school models and leads district strategy development and management. Since February 2020 she has done a little bit of everything, because COVID moved everyone’s jobs into “other duties as required.”

Before joining Tulsa Public Schools, Andrea spent 15 years working in district and state leadership roles in Rhode Island. During that time, she led departments including operations, finance, secondary education, career and technical education, English language learner services, charter authorizing, special education, and virtual and blended learning. Andrea has degrees in education from Brown University and Harvard University.
